NBI Clearance Requirements have been a buzz in our comments section. That’s why we’re writing another tutorial on how to apply NBI Clearance Online and the requirements needed so the public would know what really is the real score about it.
Ideally, in applying any Government issued document is usually requires several valid IDs and other documents proving the identity of the applicant. NBI Clearance is same with the aforementioned Government issued document.
In our country, document such as NBI Clearance is (most of the time) required by different Public and Private Agencies such as Companies who are seeking for Employees. Hence, NBI Clearance is one of the major employment requirement aside from the applicant’s professional resume template.
Having an NBI Clearance is as easy as applying for a Philippine Passport, we’ll dig in to that later on. But to give you an overview of the process, you can check out this updated article on how to apply for an NBI Clearance which discusses the step by step process.
We have divided the NBI Clearance Requirements into two (2) general categories so we can sort everything out and explain it clearly.
Before we proceed, we just want to put emphasis on this topic of requirements for new application and NBI Renewal are the same (Two Valid IDs).
Valid IDs NBI Clearance Requirements
For every Government Document you are applying, valid ID is always a requirement asked to be presented. The request for the presentation of Valid ID’s of the applicant is a security feature added to the process of issuing government documents to avoid personal data/information theft. This means that an individual is only required to get or apply an NBI Clearance for him or herself.
The Valid Identification cards or valid ids listed below are acceptable when applying for an NBI Clearance.
- Valid Philippine Passport
- Voter’s ID
- Driver’s License
- PRC License
- SSS ID
- GSIS UMID
- Postal ID
- School ID
- TIN ID
- Philhealth ID
- Alien Cert of Registration
- Senior Citizen
- Previous Copy of NBI Clearance
From the list above, the applicant is required to present at least two (2) valid IDs. Although NBI Clearance application requires only one valid ID, I personally recommend to bring two or more valid IDs as a supporting document.
It must also be noted that the valid ID that will be presented must be in good condition and have a clear Photo of the applicant as well as its personal information.
Valid IDs from the list of NBI Clearance requirements above must not be expired. Obviously, an Identification card is not valid as a requirement or proof of identity in any kind of transaction.
Please note that School ID is acceptable for Student applicants only. If you’re using this as valid ID, might as well bring the School Registration as a supporting document. If you’re not a student and you’re using your old School ID or Alumni ID, there’s a possibility that the NBI Clearance Personnel will reject your application.
Photocopies of any Valid IDs are not acceptable. Original copy of the requirements of NBI Clearance Online must be submitted. This also means that when applying for NBI Clearance, photocopies of your valid IDs is not needed so don’t make an effort to photocopy it.
Is police clearance accepted as an NBI Clearance Requirement? Technically, yes. Police clearance can serve as a valid ID.
NSO Birth Certificate or issued by PSA are not acceptable as valid id requirement for NBI Clearance application.
NBI Clearance Online Appointment
We already discussed this process on how to apply for NBI Clearance Online Appointment in our previous post but for the sake of other people who don’t want to move from one page to another, we’ll be taking a glimpse of the process.
Step 1. Go to the official website of NBI Clearance Services (https://clearance.nbi.gov.ph/) and register a new account if you don’t have one. If you have an existing account, you may just sign in by typing in your email address and password.
If you don’t have one yet, just fill up the required information needed in the “REGISTER AS NEW ACCOUNT”.
Step 2. For new applicant of NBI Clearance Online Registration, enter all the Personal Information and hit the SAVE button down below once done.
STEP 3. Click the apply for clearance button located at the upper right portion of your screen to start the process of application. A small window will ask you what Valid ID will you bring or present when applying for an NBI Clearance. You may select from the list of valid IDs accepted in applying for an NBI Clearance.
Step 4. When you arrive at the scheduling page, Select the NBI Clearance Branch you are going to process your application. Select your preferred time (either AM or PM) and the date. You can see the Total Amount you’re going to pay at the right side of your screen. Also, you have to select the payment option to pay for your NBI Clearance application. I highly suggest 7-Eleven as its much convenient than the others. Another option is the Bayad Center where various branches are scattered around Metro Manila.
As you can see above, this is the part where you schedule your NBI Online Appointment so make sure to select the date, time and the NBI Branch dependent on your convenience.
Click on the icons below of the payment option.
Step 5. Pay your NBI Clearance Application fee at your chosen Payment Option. As I’ve mentioned, I prefer paying my NBI Clearance application fee in 7-Eleven because its near me and its convenient.
Please note that there are additional charges to be paid. If you’re going to pay for your application fee in 7 Eleven, you have to pay for the the NBI Clearance Fee (P130) + System Fee (P25) + 7-Eleven Fee (P15). A total of P170.
Personal Appearance in NBI Clearance Branch
After payment is made, all you have to do to is go back to the NBI Clearance website and check if the status of your application changed. To do this, log in to your account and go to “TRANSACTIONS” section and check if you’re seeing it as “PAID”. Though this step is not that important, you can just ignore the status if it doesn’t changed after your payment. As long as you keep your receipt and your Reference Number, you’re good to go!
I would like to put emphasis on this, you don’t have to print the NBI Clearance Application form. You only need to have your NBI Clearance Reference Number and you can go to your selected branch from your application awhile ago and process your application.
Did I mention that you have to wait for your scheduled date? Yup, wait for your scheduled date before going to the NBI Clearance Branch. Make sure you arrive on your scheduled time slot, which is AM or PM.
When you arrive at the NBI Clearance Branch, expect that your photo and biometrics will be taken. If you’re lucky enough, you will get your NBI Clearance within the day or just waiting for a few minutes. That is if there’s not that much applicant that day or you don’t have a HIT.
